About the Building

Historically known as the Harriman Building, is a 37-story Class B office tower located on the west side of Broadway between Morris Street and Exchange Alley in Manhattan’s Financial District. Completed in 1928, the approximately 447,400-square-foot building was designed by noted architectural firm Cross & Cross and constructed by the George A. Fuller Company. The tower extends through the block from Broadway to Trinity Place and is distinguished by its classic late-1920s architecture, masonry façade and setbacks rising above Lower Broadway.

Originally developed for the W.A. Harriman banking firm, the building opened in May 1928 and Harriman initially occupied seven floors. The property occupies a site with unusual historical significance: the former Alexander Macomb Mansion stood here and served as George Washington’s presidential residence in 1790, when New York City was the nation’s capital.

Office floors are considerably smaller than those found in many of Lower Manhattan’s larger towers, with typical floor plates of approximately 8,700 square feet.
